Philoptochos

I hope you’re enjoying these last weeks of summer. Before work and back-to-school plans fill our calendars, a quick update and a big thank-you.

Thank you for your generous support of our June-July back-to-school drive. National has recognized our chapter for the impact of your efforts. Great job, ladies—your hard work and dedication to our mission make a real difference.

The board will meet soon to finalize our schedule. In the meantime, please save these dates:

- Sunday, August 23: Backpack Blessing for all students, teachers, and staff.  We’ll have a table  set up in the fellowship hall where students can pick up their blessing tags.

- Sunday, August 30:. We will host coffee hour and celebrate Fanouropita Sunday. Please feel free to bring a Fanouropita or a dish to share.

Lastly, if you have photos with your Philoptochos flag, please email them to Fip3832@gmail.com for our final summer collage, “Where in the world is a Philoptochick?”

New to Philoptochos or curious about our mission?

To join, you must be 18 or older, an Orthodox Christian, and a church steward. Philoptochos—“friend of the poor”—is the official philanthropic ministry of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, serving those in need and living our faith through outreach. Our Agape Chapter partners with local ministries and features a different outreach each month. We can’t wait to reconnect and meet new faces. See you there!

St. John the Merciful - Elaine’s Table Update!

St. John the Merciful Outreach Ministry continues collecting donations at Holy Trinity, All Saints and St. Raphael’s of non-perishable food items for a local school for children in need. Below is a link to a shopping list with specific items in need. The items can be purchased on Amazon (Amazon link) and sent directly to the church to the attention of Elaine’s Table at Holy Trinity. Or you can purchase the items wherever you shop and bring them to church and place them on Elaine’s Table! If you have any questions, contact Deacon Gavrilo at deacongavrilo@gmail.com or Anna Kouba at anna.rallis.kouba@gmail.com. Thank God, thank Elaine and all of you who continue unselfishly to love and help your neighbor!
