HOLY TRINITY CHOIRS

"Oh sing to the Lord a new song! Sing to the Lord all the earth. Sing to the Lord, bless His name. "

~ Psalm 96:1

We learn from the Holy Bible that the angels were the beings who joyfully brought the good news of our salvation to humankind; singing and praising God at the birth of our Lord.  This is the special ministry and gift that all of our choir members have been given, to join their voices with the angelic voices, as we gather together for worship.

From the angels proclaiming Jesus' birth to St. Romanos the Melodist, Patron Saint of Choirs, Holy Trinity's choirs have followed in their footsteps.  Under the direction of Elia Nicholas, both the adult and youth choirs continue to serve the Lord.

The Holy Trinity Choirs have truly been blessed with many talented and dedicated members throughout the years.  To recognize all of them and their contributions would fill a book.  Their stewardship, as they continue to praise God with their melodious voices, will one day be recognized by our Lord Jesus Christ.

If you are interested in belonging to either choir, please contact the director, Elia Nicholas (919) 361-4938 or ejnicholas@frontier.com

ADULT CHOIR

Currently, the adult choir has 24 members.  Choir sings every Sunday morning beginning at 9:45am in the choir loft for the Great Doxology.  The adult choir also participates in special services during Great Lent such as the Wednesday night Pre-Sanctified Liturgies as well as Holy Week and the Feast of Great Pascha.  Occasionally, the choir may sing for special major Feast Days throughout the year.

To make the choir fun and challenging, Elia has tought the choir various liturgical choral music by such distinguished composers as Nicholas Roubanis, George Anastasiou, Frank Desby, Anna Gallos, Nicholas Maragos, Theodore Bogdanos, Tikey Zes, Kevin Lawrence, George Raptis, and Chris Kypros.  The choir also has compiled a varied repertoire of Christmas music. The adult choir presents its annual joint Christmas Program with the Youth Choir in mid December.

Holy Trinity Choir is active in the Southeastern Federation of Greek Orthodox Choirs and Musicians and sends various members each year to the annual Conference.  Some members of Holy Trinity Choir have also been tapped to participate in a musical outreach of our faith through the internationally recognized Spoleto Fesitval of Arts.

YOUTH CHOIR

The youth Choir has over twenty members typically presents two showings a year.  The liturgical portion of the Youth Choir is done with the Youth Choir participating at various Holy Week/Pascha services.  The second semester of the Youth Choir involves a joint Christmas Program performance with the adult choir.

This choir is open to any child of public school age.  For more information on how your child can join youth choir, please contact Elia Nicholas, director of choirs, at ejnicholas@frontier.com
